The NAT (Naftiko Apomachiko Tamio) is one of the smaller insurance funds. When NAT include insured seafarers, port staff, fishermen, pilots and all other persons having to do with the maritime and shipping industry.
The contributions to the NAT is based on the salary. Employees pay a contribution of 9%. The employer or owner shall contribute a share of 14%. The list of services includes
NAT pensions invalidity, old age pensions and survivors' pensions. Also death benefit will be paid otherwise than in Germany. The application for death benefits must be made within one year be made after the death of the insured.
A disability pension can be received if the earning capacity is reduced to a minimum of 67% and 15 years were insured by the NAT. The disability rate is not comparable to the well-known in Germany, the degree of disability or medical conditions of a German disability pension.
for a retirement pension must be at least 50 years old and have covered a total period of insurance in the NAT at least 15 years. The age and the total period of insurance but must combine to at least 70.
spouses and children of a deceased person can receive survivor's pension if the deceased a total period of insurance in the NAT completed 15 years ago. If there are no other claimant, under special circumstances, a pension to siblings or parents are paid.
The widow's or widower's pension is 70% of the contributory pension. For children there is a surcharge of at least 15% to 30%.
The orphan's pension is 60% of the contributory pension for one child, 75% for two children, 90% for three children and 100% for four or more children if the mother is dead.
Unmarried children receive the pension or the widow, the orphan of the contract for up to 18 Birthday. By 24 Birthday the pension is granted as long as the children attend an approved educational or vocational training, including in the EU, EEA or Switzerland.
An orphan's pension is paid without limit, if the orphan is incapacitated for permanently and completely.
Note, if you've traveled outside the NAT also times in another Greek system are special times for all minimum insurance for invalidity, old age and survivors' benefits. Under certain conditions a pension from the times of both systems paid or will be increased from the days when NAT pension calculated if the required age is reached in a different medium.
