Sasuke Sakura A Love Story

Visiting the sunny Chile

Hi Queridos,

from 31.12. to 11.01. Katja was my sister and her friend Michelle to visit in Santiago de Chile. I can only say that We spent a couple of really nice days together. It's something else again, everything here to have seen on the ground with their own eyes or prosecute "only" the blog, and for me it was great fun to be able to show both at everything. You get just simply a more complete picture.
In the 12 days we have seen much of Santiago, but above all we have eaten sufficient and good and drunk. It was a holiday with a difference!
I even love to write, I've uploaded once you Micah and Katie's first trip report on their stay in Santiago! ;)

Enjoy reading ...

Beloved,

as promised, a short Travel Report from the distant Chile to "good old Germany"!
exactly a week now since we leave it to us in the capital, Santiago de Chile in the district of "La Florida" go well. Only a few hundred yards from the apartment of my brother away, we spend the night in an accommodation, looking at the pastor and believers usually quiet to your "Exercicien" pursue, as we tired in the evening just plop into our beds.

day we experience in all facets of Santiago, we get to know people love to be invited to eat, dance and let the sun shine on your nose. Before we start our tour on Sunday and therefore is not likely or have little access to the Internet, we want to let you participate in our most important stages of the first week, here is our trip report:

first
Brrrh days * * It is colder in Germany, we look forward to the distant Chile. First another some hours of flight between the Sun and us. But after 14 hours flight from Frankfurt to "Sao Paulo, Brazil" and a 4-hour connecting flight to Chile, we have achieved our goal. With jeans, hiking boots and heavily laden, we are faced with the airport, 30 °, our drivers (Tio Rodrigo and Bruce, the exiled Chilean) waiting for us ...
Right after we drive to the WG of Ben, Daniel and My brother Bruce, is the funny, the guys that we know so far only from pictures or from the phone to finally meeting you! Not only that, the entire family of Daniel is also arrived (before Christmas) for the "prodigal son" to visit.

After we unpacked our gift (pounds of Haribo, chocolate and a book about Baden-Württemberg), we continue in our "ghost monastery, it is enough even for a cold shower for an hour sleep and then it goes from 21 clock to our New Year's Eve invitation. Mimi and Jan, our 3 WGler friends invited us for New Year.
We dance, eat, drink vino tinto "and celebrate an unusual year with summer temperatures, without our family and friends but with friends and a kind of surrogate family of my brother, who received us warmly and took care of us as if they were our family!
Despite the great atmosphere and I think Michael could barely open his eyes to 3:30 we were in our beds and therefore spent the first night of our stay.

second Days
Since the others are only at half past seven in the morning come home, and we had rested, we enjoyed the pool the sun. Later we head to our first tour to one of the local mountains of Santiago, the "Cerro San Cristobal "and see the truly breathtaking view of Santiago.

Since we are a little let loose late and is the rise of about 1 1 / 2 hours, we have a kind of cable car comfortably reaches the summit. After a few snapshots and enjoying the beautiful scenery there is the descent

Ralf, the dad of Daniel and amateur chef conjured us late in the evening the best beef that we had ever eaten, we agree -.. a successful conclusion!

Day 3
Today is a trip to the "lagoon" is planned. Mimi and Jan, the family of Daniel and of course Michael and invited me. So completely can we think not what to expect ...

Even the journey there is fun! We sing and clap in the car to all manner of rhythms, songs Chilean, Argentine schmaltzy love Reggaeton and of course, a party music that instantly spread a good mood.
are After two hours we at our first destination, a lake, in which our "Host Family" has collected a few small boats and a jet-ski, as it was not able to repair (something is totally normal, about delays or unfinished business one must not upset really) we went after a short time on. Fortunately - as awaited us at our second destination of the day the perfect day! Middle the Andes, at nearly 2000 m waiting for us a wonderful, well-kept pool area where we could relax all day.

between we had a barbecue, and later there was fresh fruit, tea and coffee. It was a great day!

4th Days
Today it is again the center of Santiago, we visit the "Mercado Central". There are fruit, vegetables, fish and meat in moderation. For lunch we went to the famous fish restaurant "Donde Augusto.

Afterwards, we stroll through the bohemian neighborhood of Bellavista, and enjoy the hustle and bustle.

evening is once again "going out" is announced. As a thank you download the "German" one of our Chilean hosts for dinner, it will be a merry evening.

5th Days
It is the last day of Daniel's family, once again we are with Mimi and Jan invited to eat and celebrate. This time there are traditional grilled fish dishes and as always a wide selection of alcoholic beverages. Vino tinto, strawberry punch, rum-cola, liquors ... The Pool Party reached its peak when half the guests (some with clothes) landed in the pool - a welcome refreshment! flow after a really emotional adoption (tears, Gifts are exchanged), we take three cars to the airport to say goodbye to Ralf to final, Steffi, Elli and Benni.

6th Days
Today we rattle off some important sights of Santiago, the presidential palace, the financial district, the second, smaller mountain "Santa Lucia" and "Plaza de Armas.

between we browse on a small market for typical Chilean souvenirs. We spend the evening in a relaxed atmosphere for the adoption of Ben and Uli (father of Ben), breaking up the next day to your two-week tour.
But before we are invited by the former host mother of Bruce to "Once food". For the first time we get to know personally Susy. In a cozy round, we drink coffee and tea, eat dinner, including "Pie de limón (lemon cake), a delicious Chilean specialty. We talk with hands and feet are in German, English and English, a real fun, and finally exchanged souvenirs or gifts from Germany and from Chile!

7th Days
Micha and I visit the project "Acógeme" in the district of "La Granja" in which Daniel and Bruce make your community service. Here are about 30 children after school until evening cared for in different groups. The "TIAS" and "Tios" ("aunts / uncles) to help with homework, read and tinker with the children. Here the children learn, coming from mostly bad family situations and already with drugs, violence, poverty and abuse have been in contact to say basic things for everyday life, such as manners, "please" and "thank you" clean up the toys and issues such as violence, children's rights, sexuality and abuse "are treated age appropriate. You get food and drink, and the daily schedule so that a certain routine, rather than hang around on the street, they come into the project.

considered

At first glance, the children are just as lively, playful and happy as other children, by and by, talking to the children themselves, with family members or teachers are clear about what children experience already terrible things .

the eighth days we have with a hearty breakfast, a visit to the mall, read by the pool and of course spent to writing our round mail totally relaxed ...

We send you sunny greetings from Chile and look forward to hear from you!
Michael and Katja

Over the next day we nor the one or other activity had planned. For example, we made a nice trip to Valparaiso. There we have one of the first several hills from which the city is surrounded, climbed one of the many elevators and then had an incredible view over the city and harbor.

After lunch we are on to the next station to Viña del Mar, where we spent the rest of the day at the beach.

On Friday we visited once the project so that Katja and Michael were adopted by the team.

After the night before were still on a small party at the house of the head of Daniel and invited me, we spent a Saturday together with Jan and Mimi in the family of Hugo. A hearty asado, swim in the pool and the night before left us no alternative to a nap. Late in the evening we were exhausted but happy home!

The next day it was then already so far. I accompanied them to their hotel where they wanted to meet her remaining tour group and then was already a fresh departure, but this time "only" (more) six months ...
On Thursday it's finally on the road. Together with Daniel and Benedict will be the 19.01. to 26.01. a seminar in Santa Cruz, Bolivia to visit. Then it goes to a three-week trip through Peru, where we will hopefully make many exciting stations halt. But for more in the next blog entry ... ;)

un abrazo
Bruce
